3. Compaction test

Soil compaction test is also famous with the name of proctor test. It is being used by engineers to determine the dry soil mass per cubic meter when the soil is compacted over a range of moisture level, providing the maximum dry density at optimum moisture content.

There are some points to consider while soil testing –

  • Sampling and testing – Sampling of soil for tests in lab or in-situ is to be performed by experienced engineer.
  • Test data logging – All the logging of soil sample and test data should be done by fully-trained staff that understand the properties of soil and test results.
  • Testing frequency – It should be as per input from engineer. Engineer can do testing frequency on the basis of results acquired from the previous testing.
